Last Minute Edtion- Singapore

As in any journey. plans change and are modified on the fly to accommodate your trip and make everything easier. So when I heard that my flight to Singapore was being changed...so in fact...I could spend the day with friends instead of flying straight thru. This was a welcome change to my trip..I decided to take the train down to Singapore instead of flying. It was a great idea, I could see Singapore for the day and catch up with Dave Mel and Aidan. The journey passed by with all the other westerners in the 1st class cabin of the train..watching some local sitcom that was a Mix between a telenovela and Saved by the Bell. I roamed around the train and found a bunch of interesting photo ops and grafitti on the train.

This photo is of a local market and the women are selling fruits and vegetables.

After a long journey down in the train. We arrived at the border checkpoint where You had to exit the train...with your bags...go thru customs, get your bags scanned and then get back on the train. It was all a bit funny...but as I'm glancing at the list of contraband items....I see "chewing gum" and think ...oh shit I hope they don't find it! Luckily I passed thru with no problems...but I did have a flashback to the guy in the 90's who was caned for spraying painting cars.

But after arriving to Singapore I saw a Lance Armstrong looking sort on the train...triathlon built...all dressed up in his tight spandex, with his road bike in hand. I asked him where he'd ridden...he said he was riding his bike thru Thailand and he was caught up in the flooding too...so he couldn't get as far as he wanted to go. He's was an Aussie and riding around by himself in the Thai countryside. Amazing...how some people can do that. There are definitely different levels to adventure travel.

I wish I'd gotten a photo...:)
