Lol arrival to Hue was a bit of a whirlwind of excitement
I found my hostel was picking up someone else so
I hitched a ride with them...after being dropped off...
I spoke to a nice reception lady about arranging a bus
ticket to the next town...and then she asked...
do you want to take a tour...?? I asked the price and agreed...and I thought cool...t
hat's my day in Hue all sorted. She said it leaves at 8:30am...
Wow only 30 minutes since arriving I had a tour and
my way to the next town...after being on the overnight train I was feeling a bit grimy...
I needed a shower...so I asked if there was time..she said yes...but it was nearly 8:30...
so I believe her and started to get ready. BUT while in the shower....I got the call asking
if I was ready?? I rushed down hairing soaking wet, where a man was waiting for me
with a motorbike helmet and he said "you put this on"...I thought...alright...
a bit of an adventure in the morning. I'd never been on a motorbike before.
We zipped across town on the motorbike to find the bus...everyone was already sat on the bus
waiting for me...and they thought that my arrival on this tiny motorbike and speedy
driver wearing a helmut that was a bit too small for me was hilarious!!! I walked on the bus
and was liking for seat, so I said said..how're you doing? And some Swiss couple
promptly answered ...waiting for you...we had a good laugh.
On the bus, I found a seat next to a nice Vietnamese lady...
she bought some typical Vietnamese hats and
had me model one for her...
she thought me to say a few Vietnamese words...She was quite funny and
would tell people off for sitting in our seats. We
and was pointing and chatting to me for most of the day...
After my entertaining arrivals in the morning,
most everyone was joking and poking fun at me the whole day...
there was an old Aussie couple who were calling me a troublemaker and saying...
oh so you're not the last one to arrive...?? We have to watch you...
From the morning it was already evident that our tour guide was a total time lord,
at every tomb or temple he would say ...something like "You gave 3 minutes to take pictures here...:-)
he about had a heartattack when we arrived back 10 minutes late to the bus.
By the end of the day, everyone started to poke a little fun at him and he had a
good sense of hunmor about it. The old Aussie guy started calling him Nanny...:)
Hue was a very peaceful ladiback town compared to the stress and buzz of Hanoi.
We went to three tombs for different emperors of the Nguyen dynasty...and a
pagoda where we saw monks praying and chanting.
I made fast friends with the Swiss couple and on the
way back in the boat we found a Bao vendor on the street
and tried a few of them...they were amazing. We went out for
Indian food later on that night and chatted.
I'll upload some photos later...
