One feeling that I got from the moment I arrived was this place felt oddly familiar and comfortable. Why would that be? I've never been here before...today I started the day ...a little earlier than expected. My phone was still on HongKong time...just one hour difference...:)
In my day to spend in Hanoi, I wanted to hit the high points, so 1st stop was the masoleum to visit Ho Chi Minh's tomb. Having died in 1969, I was surprised to find him preserved and looking good on display. i actually got in trouble for taking the first photo.
The tomb and museums talk alot about Ho Chi Minh's life and how to traveled alot and learned about other countries cultures and religions and decided on socialism and he idealized Lenin. My guide told me in his writing he "predicted" Vietnam would become independent in 1954 and it came true. In the States...we never learned that in history class...:) lol
She was really interested in what Americans think about socialism...which is humorous for me...having lived for so long in Prague. My opinion is a little different because I really like socialism for certain aspects. My guide was asking all sorts of questions about when Obama is going to implement his health care plan in the States. Everyone is interested in Obama's changes.
Next Stop was the Temple of Literature, where it talks about Confucious and his teachings and is also a temple...very cool.
Here's the photo of the day....:) from Ho Chi Minh which I though was pretty cool.
A little history and culture today...and tomorrow and a little swimming, kayaking and relaxing in Halong Bay.
